It's a Bette Midler song from a movie called "The Rose"!. It was a story about the life of a Janis Joplin like performer, who drank and screamed a lot on stage!. The move is called "The Rose" and so is the song!.
I'm not sure what that scene was about other than the fact that it was an oddball song to sing after Peter suggested they sing a "road" song!.
It went on kind of long, and I'm not sure why!. I sometime think that Seth MacFarlane just likes to sing!. Granted he does have a good singing voice!. Hell, he trained with the same singing coach that worked with Frank Sinatra!. I don't mind if he does!. I love the show and he has a real talent for voice characterizations!.
