AMC, what happened ?!

Well, I am unsure myself as to what has happened. Some of the storylines seem okay, others are dull or dragged out too long to maintain interest. I like the story involved Erica Kane and her ultimately joining forces with jailmate Carmen to gain revenge against a man who wronged the latter. However, the Greenley-Ryan thing is getting to be a bore: I don't understand how Greenley could, if she were still in her right mind, turn down a marriage proposal by Aidan (he is so hot and sexy I would gladly marry him myself), unless of course the ultimate answer is that she is still in love with or loves Ryan. While it was sweet that Jesse and Angie chose today to renew their wedding vows and did so at the location of their original wedding, it was hard for me to be in the moment and truly enjoy the renewal ceremony when the show has already tipped its hat about Jesse once again being in peril through Tad's deranged natural uncle, Uncle Robert.
The ALL MY CHILDREN of today lacks a lot of the heart, class, and suspense and intrigue of the original show of yesteryear; and in large part all of that is because of the passing on or retirment of several of the original cast members and especially those who were in roles of matriarchs or patriarchs on the show. Do I really give a darn that CHARM and the perfume inspired by the tome are both available on ABC.COM? That's a rhetorical question of course.
As to what would help things, a start would be for most of the most annoying and/or superfluous characters on the show to be permanently written out of the current storylines.
The writers were on strike so they were having to use different people and it showed! Lets hope that the next few months bring us the good ol days of AMC!
