REALLY hard to choose and depends greatly of your views of what makes a good sitcom, and what type you're looking for.
I think the best one, as far as smart/funny is Malcolm in the Middle. I thought it was stupid crap when I first heard of it/saw it. Then I started seeing it when I couldn't sleep at night. It grew on me, and I love it and converted others to it:D
I love Roseanne, Golden Girls, Oblongs, King of the Hill, etc.
