Dutch found out shortly before his death and went to Nick's apartment to tell him that Brian is his brother, but Nick wouldn't see him. Dutch died without ever telling Nick. Nick later found out when Tripp discovered that Brian was not his. (Tripp forced the family obsterician to tell whether all of the kids were his - he suspected the twins were not, but he was wrong - only Brian belongs to Dutch).
