Guiding light camera work?!
Question: what is going on? the show is falling apart i haven't watched it consistently for a few yrs. i only catchh a couple of scenes every now and then if i'm extremely bored.... y is the camera so shaky? it looks worse than a reality show...i used love this show but no i think they should just take it off the air.

First of all they are giving the actors crappy storylines and the camera work is shot to hell I stop watching when they broke up Gus and Harley. I should have stopped when they broke up Reeva and Josh only to Pair him with her sister and now Gus is going to die so I hear That show is going to the dogs man.
Could be the way the camera is being moved around for certain takes of each scene. Nothing is wrong with the show itself. Sometimes production goes on location and they don't always have all the equipment (I think) with them like they would in the studio. So it could probably get very hard to hold a camera very steady at times while trying to shoot a scene because they have to move with the actors while trying at the same time balance the camera.
I am sorry that your having a hard time watching the show. I hope the camera movement gets better for you to be able to see the show clearly.

In order to draw the younger viewers The Idiots In Charge at GL decided to use Hand Held camera and shoot scenes at real locations/blds. They think this makes the show 'edgy' and "Realistic-" when in fact it makes it look Cheap!
( filming this way really does helps their budget and they are also asking the actors to take Another paycut)
The sound is horrible and music too loud used too much.
The ratings are NOT improving at all.
I will quit this show for good once Gus is gone- I was a viewer for over 10 yrs. The show looks bad and the SL are the worst. JMO

These weird camera shots were used on ATWT for a little while and they finally went back to still shots. Maybe this is what will happen with GL if the viewers complain enough. Sometimes new things work out and sometimes they are just awful. This is the only way they can find out.
They are using hand held cameras. They did it for a while on AMC and were making people literally seasick with it. Thank goodnss they aren't doing it any more.
I can no longer watch an entire episode anymore because of the camera work, it's so annoying.
Yeah I know the camera sucks! There is sometimes bad lighting, angles, and way to zoomed up! It looks very unprofessional-some scenes like an ameatur camera man. They need to fix something. Maybe its not the camera's fault, but something is defidently wrong!
They completely redid how they produce the show. From using full sets (all 4 walls and ceilings) and shooting on location 2-4 days each week. Plus the crazy cameras. It is a great idea but the cameras stink. They did all of this because the costs of the show were too much and they needed to cut costs. Their next task is getting better writers. I do not watch soaps but just had to catch an episode. I loved everything except the camera work and the scripts. It is too much like real life.
I don't mind the camera work. I think the show is great, I love it!! I am mad that Gus is dead, but I will continue to watch daily!! I hope it never goes off the air!
The camera work needs some work but it doesn't bother me that much I love Guiding Light and will continue to watch The story lines are pretty good to me I hope it never goes off the air
