Question: So I'm new to Days of Our Lives, I have just recently begun watching and I'm having a little bit of trouble deciphering the familial and romantic relationships. Are these people all dating their first cousins? If someone could give a family tree that explains this dynamic menagerie, I would bequeath unto them 10 pts.

I know many people do not want links in their answers but I do recommend checking out that soapcentral page that was posted in the first answer. Someone put a lot of work into it and it would take someone forever to recreate it here.
It does seem that they are dating close relatives -
two examples right now that really cause confusion in some, especially new viewers:
Max and Stephanie:
Max is the adopted son of Shawn and Caroline Brady; Kayla is his sister.
Stephanie is the granddaughter of Shawn and Caroline; daughter of Steve and Kayla.
Max is Stephanie's uncle due to his adoption but there is no blood relation. I will leave my opinion out and allow you to form your own.
Shawn and Belle:
Shawn is the son of Hope and Bo but Bo's father is Victor, not Shawn Sr. who he has always known and loved as his Pop.
Belle's parents are Marlena and John; we have recently learned that John is Shawn Sr's nephew which would seemingly make Shawn and Belle second cousins. New viewers would have a problem with this if they didn't know the story behind Bo.
Everyone is somehow related to everyone else, if not by blood, then by marriage or a shared half-sibling. Will Roberts and Claire Brady will have a very difficult time finding someone appropriate to marry as long as they stay in Salem.

i suppose it looks like they are dating cousins. perhaps you could be a little more specific about who you are asking about. there is more than one couple who look to be related but in all reality are not.
It can be confusing and I've been watching for years. The following link shows actual family trees rather than just saying who married who etc.

Billie, Austin, Cassie, Rex, Phillip and Lucas are all half brothers because they share the same mother ( Kate Roberts)
Carried and Austin and Sami and Lucas are married and they both share the same siblings ( Cassie and Rex )
