What is going on with the NBC Writers strike?!

it's not just nbc but ALL tv/movie writers that are on strike.
two of the main issues
1. Currently writers get ZERO for offical show downloads at the network's offical sites or from Itunes- while the networks Sell ADs on their sites and make $$$$$$$$
The writers want 2 1/2 CENTS per download
( now come on if YOU wroter say an episode of Heroes wouldn't YOU want $$$ from it's download or sale)
2. the writers want the royalities from dvd sales to increase to 4 CENTS per dvd sale-- again be honest Wouldn't YOU want to get paid for YOUR work =epecially while those companies make Millions
Omg same here. The writers are being all bitchy and just deciding they want more money so until they get payed more they won't write the shows.
All shows that use scripts are currently postponed. A few shows were able to stock up on some finished episodes before the strike was announced. Some chose to just play them until they ran out of episodes to run, while others took a "break" and will return with their couple of episodes later this january. Re-runs, game shows, and reality shows have currently taken over television until the Strike is over. Which might not be for a very long time, and will cost the media industry millions of dollars.
