What would've happened if the 70s TV show Good Times went into the 80s inste!

Question: Yes, I know the style would've changed. But do you think it would've still had high ratings if John Amos didn't leave the show and if it did go into the 80's, would Janet Jackson and Ben Powers still been added to the cast? What do you think?

I think it would have stayed with the final cast minus the actors who played Micheal and JJ. As the show was coming to an end Jimmy Walker was getting roles on other shows such as Love Boat and the actor who played Micheal ( can't remeber his name), wanted to move on and do something else. I think he really was going off to college.

The story would have continued in a new building with Keith, Thelma, their new baby, Florida, Walona and Penny. What kind of story lines would have been created, I'm not sure. But by that time it was losing it's appeal anyway.

The whole idea behind the show was supposed to represent the Black family surviving while living in the ghetto. If they moved from the projects then the appeal of "the underdogs" (for lack of a better term) would have been gone.

I think if James had of stayed it would have been a great show for many years..I could have done without Ben Powers as Thelmas husband..Janet was a nice addition..

I think they would have added Janet Jackson regardless. Wilonna needed a story line to go somewhere- and she was a strong woman- so I'm glad they wrote a child into the script instead of a man. It proved how strong she was. I love that show and it's on every night on a local t.v. station. I bet I know every episode by heart. My brother and I still quote lines from that show.

I think Ben Powers wasn't the right person to play Thelma's husband they could have went with another actor; but them moving out of the projects, I don't think people want 2 see poor people make it; especially when you're still poor; see what money did 2 Roseanne.

It started in 1974 and ended in 1979. I loved Good Times, until the cast changes and all. Besides, Jimmie Walker and his signature "Dyno-Mite!" was starting to sound forced towards the end.

While some shows can keep on going with cast changes, different writers, etc., Good Times just wasn't good anymore.
