his father is a well educated and has a v. good job - i think his dad wanted joel to follow in his footsteps but joel has rebelled and gone the complete opposite (somewhat undecided and lazy!)....
Being on TV and on BB has shown his dad that he can accomplish what he wants (which is obviously something to do with acting etc..)
