First of all, TK is completely 100% wrong!. That might have been true back in the 60s and 70s, but now, record companies and labels completely chart the course for music on radio!.

When an artist is putting a record together, they typically record many songs!. The label takes a look at what they've done, and then it decides what will go to the radio!. If it is a big artist and they want to chart as many singles from the album as possible, they'll typically require the artist to record something with a familiar sound for the first 2 singles, and then the 3rd will be something like a ballad (usually of a slower tempo)!.

Once the label decides on the singles, the artist is usually free to fill the rest of the album up with the filler cuts!.

THEN>>>

The singles are released to radio in a nice, steady order!. Usually they'll ask the radio station to ramp up spins on the first single before the album drops in order to create a buzz!. The station usually puts the single in "power" after the initial intro period, which means it rotates most frequently!.

And the cycle continues with each single that comes down the pipe!.!.!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

More established artists get to decide what songs they want to release, but generally the record companies decide what songs on a record can offer the widest appeal to all listeners!. Requests have a little to do with it, but alot of DJ's will play songs if they owe someone a favor or like a particular artist better than another!. Unfortunately, DJ's aren't regulated by any one to be objective!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

the DJ unfortunately!.!.they play what people want to hear!.!.and if people want to keep hearing a certain song then they will play it over and over and over again!.!.whatever the people request!.!.and if its what everyone else wants to hear!.!.then they will play it for a while to keep the interest!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Program Director does when they do not have a "special" request time or special programmingWww@Enter-QA@Com
