I'll try and turn you onto "The Nightfly" by Donald Fagen, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Nightfl...
It's mostly a POP form of JAZZ with a good beat you can't stop tapping your foot to. It's brilliantly written music and great use of recording equipment when used by the right people. The digital sound technology was the best at the time. It's on many lists, like the best albums from the last 25 years and the best 20 recordings of all-time. It's gone platinum in Great Britain and America. It was nominated for best album in 1982 but lost it to "TOTO IV" by TOTO, one of my favorite bands of all time. If you can afford to buy and collect CDs on a regular basis, this jewel should be in your collection.
