my dad passed away when i was 2 so i don't remember him. my mom had an alcohol problem (now sober 27 years) so, i went to live with my god parents. the neighborhood was all white. though i do look pretty light i still look spanish though i'm not. i'm black and white. no, matter how light i am it's still different so i always felt out of place.

one summer day on our vacation in New Hampshire (a family house) a friend had tagged along while i was out on a tractor ride with my god father who was like a real father (we were really close) she asked me on the ride wheres your dad. i looked at her with a worried look on my face. coz i already look different i didn't want to be further different by not having a dad (which everyone had one in the places we would go and where we lived) so, i looked up at red (my god father) and said he's my dad.

she replied in a sing song voice saying, "no he is not". i turned around to focus in to the front of us. in a more quieter voice i said, "yes he is" she my summer friend turns to red with his bright red hair and says "is that true are you her dad" her knowing he would say no. he looks down at me, i had a frown on my face awaiting his answer which will be a resounding no.

but, he says "yes" i'm her dad. i in shock continued to look forward. afterwards, a few seconds later i put my shoulder on his arm and we continued on with our tractor ride.

from that day on he was my dad. i love that man with all my heart.

he's passed now. in a tragic car accident. god bless his soul. i miss him very much. but, here or not he will always be my dad.

this was the best memory of my childhood

Ha! When I told my brother I knew how to cut hair since I cut all my barbies hair and I took him into the closet and chopped it off.. my mom was so angry at me and started to yell, my brother got in front of me, hugged me and said to me "I like my new hair cut" and smiled :)

I'll never forget that day :) I was 6 he was 4 :)

*teary eyed* :')

It was funny and sweet :)

When I was little a friend of my grandpa's would come walking down the street singing You are my Sunshine and I knew he was calling me. He sang that song when I was still in my mamas arms until the day he died on me. I loved him and that song so much. I was grown and married and he still sang that for me. Neither will I ever forget!

It was one summer I spent a month with my grandparents camping fishing. We used sit and watch TV and my grandfather always took me off guard when he pulled my arm hairs it hurt but it made me laugh, then I'd do it right back. It was our silly thing. lol.
Such a fun memory. I miss them both so much.
Thanks for this question. Its good to remember fun times.

I had an imaginary friend and i used to walk down the street holding his hand, feed him under the table and whenever me and my mam were playing a game or something i used to make her set out a place for him!!
My mam really thought i was off my rocker and took me to the doctors, thankfully when i started school i left him.
I still laugh out loud when i think of this or when my mam reminds me
xx
