yes...both or either....like you never know what the other person is thinking about when you say something....or when you don't say something...they might have wanted you or needed you to say something....
....so all you can do is be the nicest guy you can be and hope for the best.....and of course ask them.....and then they can tell you...if they are still speaking with you....(like I have known guys...who....will drop off the face of the earth kind of thing....and never say what happened or why....other times the people I know...will let me know if something I said was bad for them.....then at least I can talk with them about it....)
