Question: Black metal or Death Metal!?
And why!?

Black Metal!. Its more exciting to explore!. I love finding new and odd black metal albums, and its great because I finally found a store that has every album I've ever dreamed of!. Atmospheric is a big part for me too!. There are interesting and slightly more realistic concepts than a lot of other genres too!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
I actually find that BM sounds the same to me!.!.!.every band has the same vocals, all the singers sound like the same people!.
But I love Death Metal more!.!.!.I prefer growls to the raspy vocals!. Black Metal does I guess seem to have a more wide varitey to it like in atmospheric BM but overall!.!.!.!.genres like raw BM and melodic BM sound the same to me and that's why I don't pick it!. Though I have found a couple of original BM bands I love!.

Good question, I like both genre's alot!. Black metal for the reasons you listed, and Death metal for its aggression and musical ability!.
I would probably choose Death metal because I put an emphasize on Musical skill most of the time!.

But out of the two!.!.I gotta go with Death Metal!. Several reasons!.!.!. I like a fair amount of Black!.!.but on the whole, speaking as a musician and a Bass player in particular!.!.!. Death is just BETTER, from a musical standpoint, on the whole!. Not that there aren't some really crappy Death Metal bands!.!.!.!. and of course!.!.there ARE some musically great Black Metal bands, but usually they gt accused of selling out!.!.or not being "TRVE KVLT"!.

I also dislike the fact that while Black Metal is extreme!.!.it is seldom actually HEAVY!. Atmospheric like you described it is a good term!.
But I like punishing drummers like Daniel Erlandson from Arch Enemy, not ones that rely 90% on Blast Beats (which I detest!.!.used sparingly they are fine!.!.but when 90% of the drum track is blast beats that is the sign of a crappy drummer!.) and thundering bass lines, elements that give real body to my metal!. And some of my all time favorite bands are groups like Bolt Thrower http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=GNO6ExX9N!.!.!. and Death http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=euHMldrw4!.!.!. or Svartsot http://www!.youtube!.com/watch!?v=9L17fhstN!.!.!. !.
That being said!.!.give me some out of norm Black Metal that isn't totally against my personal beliefs!.!.!. and I will Rock it too!.

But, at the end of the day, while I often love the atmospher eo fBlack, I have been way into Death for a lot longer, and just tend to prefer the tight precise playing exemplified in the genre, though I gotta agree with Tron that BOTH genres have a lot of Cookie Cutter bands in it, bu tthe fun is DEFINITELY finding the new and unusual stuff!.

I really love both, but for me I think death metal does the trick!. I like fast paced agressive music and i really like the technical abilities of most death metal bands, but i still adore black metal!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
