I'm all for Soulja Boy!. His lyric game ain't tight, and y'all don't take him seriously, I know!. I don't take him seriously either!. That's why I can sit back and take his songs for what they're meant to be, pure fun!. "Yahhh!" is a funny-*** song, and I appreciate Soulja Boy for havin me do his dance for a while, I still like the song today BECAUSE it's so simple and catchy!.
Listen to him respond about what Ice-T said to him!. Outside of the jokes, he delivered a good message!. "I'm just a kid who didn't have anything and a family to support, you should be happy for me!." Hip-Hop does allow for not-so-serious rappers and entertainers to come along for the ride, eventually thay may evolve, look at Busta Rhymes and Missy, Eminem, etc!.
So, just think of him as an entertainer for now, and you'll be fine!. I do see the potential in him though!. His beats are getting better, and he's been freestyling, and workin with better artists outside of Arab, and V!.I!.C!. and just all them young dudes in general!. Only because some people laugh at the fact that I think artists like Slum Village make amazing hiphop, people say it's too R&B and too sweet to be 'Real Hip Hop' BUT I would NEVER consider them not to be Real Hip Hop artists!.
