Eldorado (a concept album)

Time (a concept album)

Heh,underrated is a word that is sometimes randomly used, and I really have no idea about what's going on in the underground scene, but if you think you can get into any post-punk/gothic rock/alternative from the early 80s,a genre I personally consider doesn't get as much attention as others, and not as much as it deserves, you could try

Bauhaus-In The Flat Field
Siouxsie And The Banshees-The Scream
Gang Of Four-Entertainment!
Talking Heads-More Songs About Buildings and Food
Sisters Of Mercy-First and Last And Always
Killing Joke-Killing Joke(1980)

The whole point of post -punk was to take punk several steps further, keeping its aggression and fierce lyrics to a degree while experimenting and adding a lot more complexity, both to the melodies, the song structures, and the lyrics!.

Out of those bands,The Talking Heads took the experimentation quite far, with David Sylvian ending up being considered one of the very important musicians of his generation!.

The Bauhaus are considered to be the pioneers of gothic rock, and out of all of those, they are the most aggressive ,whilst that particular album by Gang of Four is the most punk-like!.

edit::Sorry,I seem to have missed the adjective "classic" in your question, and the bands I list perhaps don't fit this characterization, but I guess the albums can be considered "classic" in their field!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
