Well this answer is pretty easy for me!. Since two of my favorite genres are punk rock and garage rock, 1966-1976 would be the best span I can fit in only 10 years!. Ideally it would be 1965-1978, but '66-'76 had garage rock and garage psychedelia, it had glam rock, proto punk, and the earliest punk rock bands!. Favorite bands releasing material in that period:

-Sonics
-13th Floor Elevators
-Count 5
-The Kinks
-The Beatles
-The Rolling Stones
-The Who
-The Zombies
-The Velvet Underground
-Alice Cooper
-David Bowie
-T!.Rex
-New York Dolls
-Slade
-Sweet
-The Dictators
-Patti Smith
-The Ramones
-The Saints
-The Sex Pistols
-Buzzcocks
-etc!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm going to drop it back a little and say 1963-1973!. I was typing in the songs we'd lose in '63, '64, and '65 but there are too many!. Dylan (Hwy 61) and The Beatles (Rubber Soul) had a tremendous number of great tunes in those years!.
I know we lose a lot in '74, '75, and '76, and I hate it (I lose my favorite Dylan album "Blood On The Tracks")!. I feel like we lose more on the early end so that's my final answer and I'm sticking to it!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Yeah, 1966-1976 as well!. But then again, I do love The Police and other great late 70s and early 80s bands!. I sure am not saying the 2000s!. So far, this has been the worst decade of music by far!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

'66 - '76 (Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Doors, Beatles, Who, etc)
