Everyone has a different definition of "emo"!. And their have been three generations of emotional hardcore, each having its own distinctive style of dress!.
Papa Roach at least was an Alternative Metal band, they never did classify as an emotional hardcore band!. I haven't listened to them in ages so I don't know, they may have conformed changed their sound in the recent years!. I Wouldn't be taken aback if that were true!.

However, in the picture he looks quite jolly and isn't wearing dark clothing!.
