Answers:
I disagree with the premise that music has to be written down for it to be part of a society's cultural identity!.

1!. Some forms of music like the blues, have only recently been written down!. They were played for years by musicians who neither wrote any of it down nor could they read music!.

2!. Some indigenous peoples (i!.e!. American Indians, Australian Aborigines) have a society where music is a large part of their culture and they do not write down their music either!.

3!. And while I can not site references I would guess that for humans as a whole, music was a large part of mans society before we devised ways to write it!. Consider the drum!.

I would spend my 2000 words showing how incorrect this statement is!. I hope these ideas help!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Can you write an essay against that statement!? I mean songs like "mary had a little lamb" influence culture immensely but there isn't a known composer!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
