Answers:
'Easy Listening' radio stations, or 'Muzak'!.

Most workplaces don't allow music at all!
I was in a rather small shared-office at my last job, and had to take in my CD Walkman so I could listen to all the loud stuff ~ but Led Zeppelin doesn't sound so good with the sound low :(Www@Enter-QA@Com

how is that not appropriate!? either slayer or sepultra, both good bands by the way!.
he probably just heard it and thought it was satanic music or some bullsh*t!. is he christian!?
well if you want, whenever the radio is playing, tell him you're offended by what's on it if it's some poppy rap/r&b station, since it's about b*tches and gats!.

edit- maybe some old cannibal corpse too!?
I was told to change my Cause of Death-Obituary shirt because!.!.!. it was offensive for some reason or another!. also, my Scream Bloody Gore-Death shirt, and countless others!.
People are just ignorant!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

You are fortunate if you are even allowed to bring anything to let you hear music!. We cannot use our cell phones, our PC's do not have speakers, and iPods are strictly forbidden!. No music of any kind anywhere in our building except in the workout room and cafeteria!. NONE!. Even cell phone tones are frowned upon, although they won't make us get rid of those since we had to pay for them!. So don't complain, just go with the flow or you, too, may one day be forbidden to listen to anything at all!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Metal has a bad rep tagged to it and, if heard by customers on the phone or who come to the office, the music can be "offensive" just because of its heavy and fast nature and the lyrical content that it's been stereotyped to have!. It's pretty childish and ignorant, not to mention shallow, but it is what it is!. Not everyone in the world is blessed to enjoy Slayer's & Sep's music like we are!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

if you work around women, or other minority groups, or he obviously has his own preferences and is pushing that on you, that can possibly be it!.

If possible, just keep your music at a low tone, or get your mp3 player and listen to that with your earphones if you're allowed!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Before I can answer, it would be helpful to know what your work situation / atmosphere is!.!.!.!.

I work in a fairly quiet office!. I keep Radiohead, Mutumayo collections, Coldplay, Dave Matthews and sorta mellow stuff like that on hand!. If I worked in a warehouse or a shop or somewhere else, it might be different!.!.!. definitely sounds like he just doesn't like your music, tho, if he's willing to tolerate rap!

My best advice: get an mp3 player!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

LOL!

It means your boss has bad taste in music and can't appreciate the good stuff!. You either need to invest in headphones, or work your way up to a position that includes an office (then you can shut the door)!.
Either way, he is signing the checks!.!.!.give him an inch!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

LOL!.!.!.how can that not be appropriate!. he must be into the harder sh!t like death metal!. try some Death or Obituary!. oh god, he may be an in-the-closet emo!. you know how the MCR and PATD emos are intimidated by thrash metal!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

the boss is the boss is the boss!. he doesn't like that kind of music playing, you play something else!. its that simple, unless you want to be fired!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

!.!.!.what makes you think metal is workplace material!?Www@Enter-QA@Com

The first thing is where do you work!.!.!. If you work at an office i don't reccomand bringing in Slayer!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

John Denver !.!.!.!.!.!.!.sounds like ur boss is a real zebWww@Enter-QA@Com

He probably likes gay music like Maria Carey, or Celine Dion!.!.!.!. BLECH or maybe he likes music even worse like hip hop and rap, so he wants you to change it to that retarded stuff to torture you all day and make you want to blow your brains out, trust me I know there are a lot of people like that that I have and do work with!. I think if you like it and it does not use excessive profanity then it should be allowed in the work place never mind his tastes!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Depends on what your job is!. For me, I work in an accounting office and when my door is open, or when I was sharing an office I keep it mellow and "listener friendly!." Stuff like Belle and Sebastian, the Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel, Nick Drake, etc!.

The thing is, obviously you dig on the metal, but for a lot of people it's too loud and noisy!. In a work environment you have to meet in the middle, and depending on what kind of a business it is they may want more melodic, mellow stuff!. I'm not sure if you're into mellower stuff, but you're going to have to go more towards mellow stuff that plays into the background easily!.
