Sigur Rós is so awesome...how do they do it?!

Question: Sigur Rós is so awesome!.!.!.how do they do it!?
I've been to Iceland several time and am fascinated with everything about it, but Sigur Rós is a phenomenon and I don't even like them because they're Icelandic!. I just freakin' like them because they're so amazingly touching with their music!. What is it about their music that touches people!? They can make a song about 'hopping in puddles' (Hoppípolla) and it's awesome!. Someone explain it to me!. I've long said I want an entire Sigur Rós album played at my funeral!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Answers:
I LOVE Sigur Rós

Sigur Rós has just changed the way I feel about music in general and their music was powerful enough to do it with the very first song I heard by them!. I think the beauty of their music is that it is indescribable in words!. The power yet painful beauty of their music takes my breath away everytime I listen to them!. In fact, I have to wait a while till I can play another artist because everything else just pales in comparison to their music!. There are no correct words that even come close to expressing their music in any language!. It is an experience with every listen!.

I love ág?tis Byrjun so much, I think if I had an album played at my funeral that would be it!. The music video for Vi?rar Vel Til Loftárasa is probably the most beautiful piece of art I have ever encountered--it makes me tear up everytime I watch it!. Every single song they have made is so beautiful I don't have a single track I dislike!. It is just waves of waves of gorgeous melodies that seem to say something to you evertime I press play!. All of their albums are equal in their beauty and the music videos for their songs are works of art!. I once heard someone say "If Mother Earth could sing it would be Sigur Rós" and I couldn't agree more!.

The fact that these guys can sing in random syllables in some of the their songs--not even lyrics--yet produce some of the most touching and personal songs is mind-blowing!. Sadly, few people outside of Europe know about them!. I love to watch the sunset and listen to Olsen Olsen !. !. !. you get transported by the beauty and truth in their music!. You probably know about this but check out their music documentary "Heima" that came out in 2007 if you haven't--all I can say for "Heima" is that it can never disappoint!. The music is just elevated by the scenary of Iceland which you have been so fortunate to see! I want to go to Iceland!

I don't understand a thing I'm hearing, but I kind or like it that way!. It's a universal beauty in their music that makes it stand miles apart from anything else I've heard!.

I don't know how they do it but I hope they keep doing it for a very long time!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

i actually have never heard of them!.!.!.!.but at this istant i will check them out!.!.!.i love hearing from bands from other parts of the world!.!.!.!.thxWww@Enter-QA@Com

I agree! I don't even remember how I went about hearing one of their songs, but the first song I'd heard from them was "Svefn g Englar" and I was absolutely enamoured! I think that was back in 2000!. I bought Agaetis Byrjun and pretty much wore the CD out within a couple months! And again when I heard "Staralfur" featured on "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou," and again when I heard "Untitled #4" in "Vanilla Sky!."

() and Takk!.!.!. were incredibly beautiful albums as well! What I particularly love about Sigur Ros is that they seem to use the vocals, not just as a method of conveying lyrics, but also to blend perfectly with the music as it is playing!. These are one of the groups where the music is equally as prominent as the voice of the singer (most music puts the voice at the forefront!. Though, I concede that this may just be because I don't really understand the Icelandic language and perceive the vocals to be of equal instrumental value to the other musical instruments)!.

Icelandic musical artists are just simply amazing and I think I can thank Bjork and Emiliana Torrini for opening my ears to Sigur Ros, Aminamina and GugGus and (subsequently and not necessarily Icelandic) Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Godspeed! You Black Emperor, and a lot of other post-rock artists!

Anyway, to answer your question!.!.!. it may just be at the suggestion of the lyrics of "Svefn g Englar," but I suspect that Sigur Ros' greatness can be attributed to magical elves!

Finally, as incredible as the albums are, their singles are amazing too!. I have their Untitled #1 and Saeglopur singles which feature some incredible songs that they unfortunately weren't able to include in their () and Takk!.!.!.

Cheers!

EDIT
I agree Olive! the music video for "Vidrar vel til Loftarasa" (included in the Untitled #1 single) is incredibly moving!

I have a different experience of the group's fanbase though!. It may be that I'm in California, but I've met quite a few people who cherish Sigur Ros' music, and whenever Sigur Ros comes to play in Oakland and the Oakland Arena (which has been renamed every time Sigur Ros has come to play the same arena!), it sells out within days! They also had a huge crowd when they played Coachella 2006 (my only regret is that they should have gotten to play when it was darker!.!.!. Sigur Ros with live lighting effects in the dark of night would have been unreal!)!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
