What is the difference between a 4 and 5 stringed bass?!
Question: The 4 string bass has 4 strings tuned as follows: E, A, D, and G.
The 5 string bass has an extra string and the tuning is in the following sequence: B, E, A, D, and G.
There is also a 6 string bass with tuning as follows: B, E, A, D, G, and C.
Most bass players play a 4 string bass, but there a few outstanding players of 5 string instruments. The one I know best is Jack Bruce, who is best known for his work with Cream.

1 string
I agree.
without being a smart ***, 5 stringed bass has 1 string more worth of notes!
most 5 string bass guitars have a low B as the first string, then the normal E, A, D, G after that.
