If your band was to remake a song from the 1940's or 50's what would it !
Question: and how would you change it ????
Answers: and how would you change it ????
we belong together, by ritchie valens..
i'll put a little distorted guitar in the chorus, and maybe a 15 sec. solo
Shout - The Temptations... and we DO play it!
Always gets a party going as is, but add a disco-punk edge to it and you've got 50 people dry humping in my living-room.
My first thought is a song from the 1930s, "Mood Indigo" by Duke Ellington. I think it would be interesting to hear the muted-horns replaced by a flanged-guitar.
For the 40s, a psychedelic version of Kay Kyser's, "The Woody Woodpecker Song" ha ha
For the 50s, how about a "spooky, hypnotic" version of "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes"

#1)40s - "Good Rockin' Tonight" Wynonie Harris. All it needs is modern instruments.
#2)50s - "Great Balls Of Fire" - Do the hot piano parts on guitar - don't try competing with Jerry Lee!
#3)50s - "Johnny B. Goode" - I think this could be done again. Nothing to change, but play it, don't copy it!
#4)50s - "Summertime Blues" - Been done too many times but this is a personal favorite. Do it like Blue Cheer but tighter.
