Do you turn your bass up? Do you care that it bugs others?!

Question: I once had a neighbor turn up his bass and I heard something in the kitchen and I turned around, and a glass dish my grandmother had given me (which had been on the counter), and saw just in time as it was vibrated closer to the edge when it fell off and shattered. I want to know, do you know that nobody thinks your cool when you turn your bass up? Do you care? If this doesn't apply to you, does it bug you when people show this blatant display of disrespect towards others?

Turning up the bass isn't an act of being cool. I turn up the bass on my music because it sounds better with bass. All music sounds better with more bass, even classical music. *But* there is a limit. I would never turn my music up so loud that it should shake things off of shelves. Also, too much bass and not enough treble will "muddy" up the sound, and the bass will degrade the musical quality. I try to keep a balance between good musical quality and respecting others. If somebody complains to me about my music, I will turn it down. You should go to your neighbor and ask him to keep it down. Tell him his music broke something of yours. If that doesn't work, complain to a manager or a landlord, or the HOA, etc.

I care, so I don't. People who do tend to be total jerks.

If you came on here to locate the person who broke your dish, you probably aren't going to have much luck.

too much bass sounds like crap.... and yeah, it kinda buggs me.

ill turn your bass up...looking for another groupie?
you have one in me.

I have a fairly powerful sound system and rarely crank it up out of respect for my neighbors. Unfortunately, not everyone is as considerate. If it's something that happens on a regular basis, then talk to your landlord before it becomes a serious problem.

I hate it if others can hear my music. If I think that someone is upset with the noise I'll turn it down.

People who do it don't care about any inconvenience it might cause others.
I personally don't do it because I think it distorts the music. If I'm listening to music I want to hear it the way it was intended.

you should'nt of had a dish your g-ma gave you lting on the counter probally close to the edge. PUMP UP THAT BASS

I do get quite irritated when people do stupid things like that. Especially when they think they're being cool. I even work at a stereo shop, and it still bothers me. In fact, it bothers everyone I work with too, and we make fun of people like that.

You need to borrow a 100W amateur radio transmitter. It'll break through the offending stereo and scare the pants off of the owner.

To each his own.. I prefer to have it down but if someone wants it up I just get away from them... I can't believe your neighbor could shake your dish off of the counter. I think that is going a little too far.

I don't turn the bass up. I don't intend to be on the giving end with irritating bass and I don't like being on the receiving end of it either.

I've had your experience with the shaking dishes and it was awful. The neighbors who were blasting their bass had 2 small children and I don't think they knew or cared that such a loud volume can cause permanent hearing damage in children.

I think headphones are wonderful! :D
