Do you think downloading would cause the extinction of CD's and radio?!

Question: yes, it would. if everyone has ipods and mp3s, no one needs cds

Answers: yes, it would. if everyone has ipods and mp3s, no one needs cds

No way

Hum...yes...a little bit talking about cd's!

Maybe the extinction of CD's but not for the radio.
I also download music but I am still listening to the radio, I only buy CD's from my favorite artists.

No more than Cd's causing the extinction of vinyl.

u need them in the car. so yeah. but ipods may coz extinction of cds

It will make CD'S an endangered species LOL but radio will be Okay. CD's will never go away 100% because there are toooo many people that are REALLY into music and so a burnt copy doesn't do them justice. They want to read the artists thoughts, collect the CD pamplets, etc. But they definitely are diminishing in quantity.

The first song to play on MTV was "Video Killed The Radio Star" and it was true! I believe downloading has and will continue to have an effect on the demise of CD's and radio!

It depends are you talking illegal downloads or downloads as in itunes etc....

CD's will be around, because people burn to CD;s for their cars etc.. but even now MP3 players are taking over there too.

Illegal downloads are getting a little harder than what they were a few years ago when Napster & audio galaxy were all free, yeah theirs limewire etc... but so much crap & spyware and virus's come through that it's the main target where people prayer on their victims to attack PC's, it's the easiest way through open ports, that it becomes inevitible at some point your going to get a nasty virus through these things.

However, ISP's now are also tracking users who do a substantial amount of illegal downloads and this is partly why caps on P2P software & FUP's are being brought in by these ISP's, they are trying to get rid of complete P2P sharing by not allowing their users to connect to them, however that will be difficult because theirs sites that stream online LEGAL TV etc... through the P2P network.

So in answer to your question.. yes they are a little contributing to the extinsion of CD's, but I don't think they will do it fully, just more charts are now compiled by legal downloads aswell as CD sales too, so it's cutting down the whole CD sale profit, but not in regards to a record label losing money because downloads make up for this (they dont have to press up a CD and artowrk etc.. manufacturing it with an MP3 so they save a lot of money).

Illegal downloads though, I know are being clamped down on BIG STYLE, everyone thinks they won't get caught & chances are a lot wont, but those that do will be made an example of in regards to fines or in extreme cases prison service... but it's going to be very difficult for them to catch anyway which is why they are going more down the working with ISP's route to cut these down a lot with caps, FUPs, & ISP detections ... it will in time get harder to download free illegal music because it already has cut down a lot since it was say 3 years ago anyway & become harder to get certain things.

It;s no different though to what it was like when people used to record off radio, that was illegal, so i think a lot of it is scare tactics as it's on a much wider scale now.

no i dont think so

radio will live on but i think cd's will eventually be a thing of the past.
