Question: I have always wondered, do British ppl listen to Southern rap from the United States, do they play that trash on the radios out there??? What is ur(British ppl) opinion of it, do u like it? Do u understand it?
In my opinion i really dislike it, it's just trash.

Stuff like Soulja Boy does alright in the pop charts. So does some Southern rap. But the people who buy these records are mostly younger pop fans. You wouldn't so much hear someone over here saying "Oh, I love hip hop, Soulja Boy is amazing." So, although it sells, it's not really seen as having anyhting to do with hip hop. There's a big underground scene over here, and most hip hop fans are more interested in that.

Maybe I'm not the best person to ask, because I can't stand that crap and tend to ignore what's going on in the charts.

The UK has their own style, America isn't the only one out there doin hip-hop

Edit:....Rap & Hip-hop coincide with each other
And not all Southern hip-hop is trash
People have different styles
Stop bein close-minded

You shouldn't ask questions if you're gonna get upset about the answers

I'm british but liv in america and I hate southern rap, well most of it. Uk has their own style.

I know some folks from England and they have their own style.

if you want better response you probably should not trash the other styles of rap. Your preference for east coast rap is not the problem it is the fact that you are implying that a southern style(crunk) of rap is"fake".

if the east coast wants to play that game then eastern jazz and blues, funk are all fake(both genres were started in the south) and if hip-hops biggest influence was funk, jazz and blues then logically east coast hip-hop is a fake version of a southern jazz/blues mix..

UGK, Z-Ro, Lil' Flip, T.I., Juvenile, and Mystikal are great southern rappers too.
