a lot of bands dont have rhythm guitarists
it'd be impossible to play both parts, but you could just go without that part
If the lead had 4 arms and was playing a double neck guitar or was INCREDIBLY technical with their skills, then yes, otherwise it would be impossible unless it's a simple song.
Some people wouldn't notice it but people with good ears for music would probably hear that something was missing, or that the song sounds empty. The rhythm is essential.
Very few guitarists are going to be able to play both parts at the same time, but it would probably sound ok.
jimmy page has always been able to produce very full sounding music and he was always the only guitarist in zeppelin
