What's your favorite country song from the 70s or 80s that was also a pop ch!
Question: I have many - since when I grew up there was no country station here... so country hits were played especially on Top 40 pop radio - now I listen to everything - but was wondering what some people thought of older country hits that crossed over into mainstream....

There are so many. Alot have already been noted. I will add Crystal Gayles Dont it Make My Brown Eyes Blue.
There's quite a few I like from that era, but I'm not sure which ones actually crossed the pop charts. But some of them probably did I'm sure.
The only country song I can think of that might have made the pop charts was Kenny Rogers' The Gambler.
I was also a big fan of Patsy Cline years later but don't know if she actually made the pop charts (Natural Born Killers movie featured her songs)
It's a Heartache Bonnie Tyler
MY MICHELLE
You Decorated my Life (Kenny Rogers)
The Gambler
The Coward of the County... ( i LOVED this song!!!)
I love the country/rock. Urban Cowboy album was a good example of crossovers. Like Cherokee Fiddle - Johnny Lee
Some didn't crossover, but were my favorites:
Seminole Wind - Anderson
This Cowboys Hat - Chris LeDeoux
Bobby Bare - The Winner
Earl Thomas Conley - Fire and Smoke
Country When Country wasn't cool - Barbara Mandrell
Conway Twitty - (all his songs)
Kenny and Dolly "Islands in the Stream"
Charlie Rich "Behind Closed Doors"
Sammi Smith "Help Me Make It Through the Night"
Sorry, I couldn't stop with just one.
