"Revolver" The Beatles
or Led Zeppelin "IV"

Wow, I guess that depends on which aspect of influential. Could be Rumors, Fleetwood Mac. Or Bat out of Hell, Meatloaf.

I think you have to go way back to early Chuck Berry, prior to this the electric guitar was just a guitar. Were it not for Chuck Berry who know's how long it would've taken to get to that point.

to say something different...i find "vulgar display of power" by pantera to be influential through a lot of the bands today....

Sgt. Pepper's Lonley Heart's Club Band by the Beatles.

Over night they turned Rock from ritual dance music to something that could be seriously listened to with a critical ear.

It was like rock changed from black and white to color over night.

The White Album - Beatles
Any Cream , Yardbirds , Led Zeppelin album
Are you Experienced - Jimi Hendrix

Revolver - Beatles
Ok Computer - Radiohead

Two of them actually
The aforementioned Sgt Pepper which was a sea change in rock and believe or not Sweetheart of the Rodeo by the Byrds without which bands like Poco , the Eagles CSNY may not have happened

Frank Zappa's "Freak Out"

It influenced the Beatles to make Sgt Pepper, witch of course Zappa retaliated with his album "We're Only in it for the Money"

Runner up would be the Pixie's "Surfa Rosa" for influencing Nirvana's "Smells like Teen Spirit", and Husker Du's "Zen Arcade" for influencing bands like Fungazi, and EMO in general.

Black Sabbath-Paranoid

Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana
