At the BET Awards,Common says h has never put himself in a different category fr!

Question: Common says he is in the same category as Ti, Lil Wayne etc. He says that all of this is hip-hop and he gets inspired by all these "commercial rappers" so why do we separate "real" and "fake" Common has a better view at wat hip hop is than any of us.

Cause the consumers can aslo be the critics of the world...plus we Americans label EVERYTHING...Artist are going to stick together...Especially someone like Common...but we as consumers can label as we please..

I don't care.

i dont know why "WE" do it

but "I" think Lil Wayne, T.I., etc. arent in the same category as Common...thats just "my" opinion, what Common says is his

It's because of WHAT HE RAPS ABOUT! In that song "Why-remix" by jadakiss, common says "why do they say I changed for a girl" early in common's career he usually rapped about heartbreak and soft-core hip hop songs. So he is'nt the type of rapper that says "stays on the block wit a knot" he's the type of rapper who says "why you worry bout my clothes if my flow gone change the world?". So that is why common is always being put in a predicament to this nature.

He said that because he didn't want hurt any ones feelings. In my opinion that is. Common actually raps about SOMETHING. Everyone else wants to rap about how much money they have or how many cars they own. Common talks about things that really matter to people.

People understand that it's a business, he might have more insight of knowledge and wisdom of what is really defined in life that makes folks think but to be shined upon on top of his game and to disassociate himself into another category from other top sales figures like TI, Lil Wayne or even Soulja Boy would be catastrophic to his career as he doesn't want to burn bridges cause all hip hop connects whether you like it or not. Word!

I think deep inside he knows damn well he's not even on the same page as Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy etc.. He just wanted to show how gracious he was to have won and he doesn't want to burn bridges. I can't blame him. No way would he come out and imply that he is somewhat "at a higher calibur" than these Hip Pop artists. That would be a wrong career move. But deep inside, he knows what's up..
