If those so called video vixens got some class and got a real job, rappers wouldn't be able to find anyone to appear in their videos half naked shaking everything that jiggles. If we stopped buying albums with degrading lyrics, rappers would have to change their lyrics to make money. Some rappers act like they hate women so much, why don't they just go and be gay? I'm sure they wouldn't want anyone saying the things they say to their mothers, grandmothers, sisters, or aunts. All of them needed a good father-figure and they are setting a bad example for other young boys.
I liked old school rap.

Rap now adays pretty much just talks about getting the money, the escalade and the women..or should I say b!tches.

98 percent of rap music is very demeaning to women. That's why I won't listen to it..or I turn the channel when a rap video comes on.

Just a shout out to any ignorant people out there..Not all black women are like what they portray in these videos. Most of us actually have morals.
Its stupid.
find it boring and low class. Would not be my choice to listen to
i personally like rap(especially the old school), and if you wonder why rap degrades women just listen to wonder why they call you b!tch by tupac...i know...degrading...but at least hes trying to save the girl in the song
it doesn't everyone points to the videos and stuff....look, the women choose to be in those, so those really aren't degrading (hell, some women even choose to rap about sex nonstop) (see: Foxy brown and lil kim)
Rap started off as very fun music, with the Sugar Hill Gang, Curtis Blow, Run DMC, Doug E. Fresh, and the Fat Boys to name a few.

In the late 80s Kid N Play, introduced the Go Go Rhythm to many of their songs. And you could clearly see these guys were just having fun with the music and dancing.

Will Smith was the first Rap Artist to win a Grammy, and it was with good clean lyrics.

There also was political rap music, that had a specific message. Public Enemy showed people what was really going on in America.

In the early to mid 90s Rap Music lost its innocence when it gave way to Gangsta Rap. The music was no longer fun, nor did it give a message, instead it was all about killing, sex, and money.

Rap Music has not been the same since then.

MC Hammer introduced Gospel Hip Hop with his song "Pass Me Not". Kirk Franklin has since picked up the mantle and began using Hip Hop with Gospel Music.
i like certain rap songs, but most sounds the same
Quality Hip-Hop doesn't, only crank, snap and those kinds of Pop(ular) Rap. And, as Evil said, in the videos, girls choose to appear, nobody forces them to.
if you say rap.. then
all music degrades women on some point..
I've been a hip-hop lover since I was 12, but now, it is getting a little. . .tiresome. I'm sick of the mainstream crap that were stuck with, people like Lil' Wayne, and T~pain do not help. Nowadays, I feel safer listening to underground or old school hip~hop. People a lot of you wouldn't of heard of including X~raided, Seagram, Brotha Lynch Hung and pistol. Loads more, but I don't wanna get too deep for you.
it's entertainment for the men, if the women don't like then don't watch it.
its awesome. well the old skool.i dont like mainstream. u can write about mainstream though and there are many down points to that. and hip hop is not entertainment for men just cuz of the videos! its music.
Just put a big C in front of it , Bold enough ?
