Why does my acoustic guitar sound like crap even though the strings are relative!

Question:

Why does my acoustic guitar sound like crap even though the strings are relatively new?

Even when the guitar is in tune, it still sounds like crap compared to my other acoustic guitar. Could it be that it's just not a very good guitar?

Here's the status of my two acoustic guitars:

Guitar 1: Segovia D71
Date of purchase: January 17th/2006
Price: $80 US (used)
Action: difficult to press down on strings for a long time.
Sound: garbage, complete garbage. I think the sound has gotten worse since I first bought it...maybe because of the damage.
Damage: I have bumped it many times, and it's been knocked over a few times (kind of hard) so now there a few knicks and small dents on it.

Guitar 2: Jasmine (by Takamine S33)
Date of purchase: about the same time as above
Price: approx. $130 US
Action: very easy to play, perfect
Damage: none.

Perhaps someone can tell me whether it's possible to "fix" a crappy sounding guitar. Or is a crappy guitar just a crappy guitar forever?

Answers:

Dan, we can't tell you it's bad, because you did not say the magic words...What kind it is"? If you bought it on sale at Target, Walmart, hastings or any retailer like that? then it will suck...get yourself an Ovation or the new electrical acoustics by any of the leading manufacturer's and you will have a blast! first buy yourself a good quality electronic tuner..so you know for sure it isn't just out of tune...you won't regret having it!
