Here are a few ideas:

First of all, take music lessons. There are so many online lesson sites it would be a nightmare to search through them.

Any music store that sells guitars can show you how to tune it, and sell you either a pitch pipe or electronic tuner (Korg is one brand... but there many available). I use neither a pitch pipe nor an electronic tuner. I use a tuning fork for one string (A) and tune the rest of the guitar via ear and harmonics. Any decent guitar teacher should be able to teach you this. I learned when I was ten years old.

Guitar lesson books are also a good idea, but they are pretty limited.

When you say "read music" you must decide whether you want to be able to read "standard notation" or "tablature." I read both, but prefer standard notation as it includes more information than tablature.

If you have a piano or know anyone who does, the strings are tuned as follows:

E (the thinnest, highest string) is tuned to the E above middle C. From there, you head down (to your left on the keyboard) to
B
G
D
A
E (these are ALL white keys)

Also, you can use Google to search "how to tune a guitar" (put it in quotes).
