Classical Guitar help....?!

Question:

Classical Guitar help....?

I need help on the fingerings when playing classical guitar. I am working on Moonlight Sonata and it is insane. I have to stretch my fingers five frets to play two notes. I don't know how classical guitarists manage. Any help?

Answers:

How long have you been playing?
Stretched fingers only come to adjust as time passes. You don't necessarily have to play well to have stretched fingers. I know it can be a pain sometimes practice makes perfect. Just practice the parts that are the most difficult to learn over and over. Practice all day while watching TV or talking on the phone. Classical guitar might be tough at times but I believe it's definitely worth it. Hope you get through the piece and that you learn to play it well. Don't give up.
Hope this helps!
P.S.
Try learning other pieces like Bourree in E minor by Bach, Carcassi's studies, Fernando Sor's Studies, and Giuliani's studies. There's a good book by Frederik Noad that include major Classical Guitar Studies excellent for finger stretching.
Also practice a slow finger exercise playing each fret with a finger (without moving the hand) and slowly moving up and all the way through the guitar. Make sure you learn to individualize all your fingers as well!
