How can you write good songs?

I have a gig to prepare for in less than a month. I don't have enough songs, though. Tell me... how do you write songs that are school appropriate, and what inspires you?

I get stage fright, and often forget the words.

Answers:

#1 Invest in a song rhyming dictionary. Totally useful.
#2 You don't need a whole lot of songs. It's better to have a few that are really tight than a bunch of so-so ones.
#3 School appropriate? Don't cuss, and don't say anything too oppinative that'll end up turning half the school against you.
#4 It's not what inspires anyone else, it's what inspires YOU. What are you passionate about? Usually some basic subjects for songs are; Love/romance, hard times in life/life issues, and my favorite catagory is songs about music itself.
#5 Stage fright? Don't worry about it, do your best to practice WITHOUT looking at your sheet music. Blindfolded is best, that way you'll be able to focus on the audience and your band members when the time comes. But always bring your sheet music on stage for backup.
#6 Best preformance tips? Smile, and work the stage. Don't stand in one spot, people like to see you move around.
