In the David Lynch Film Dune, is the "spice" a metaphor for something !
Question: In the David Lynch Film Dune, is the "spice" a metaphor for something else!.!?
Answers:
Well, it's from the Frank Herbert book, on which the film was based, and it's a sensory-enhancing addictive drug!. So I guess you could describe it as a literal comparison to other recreational drugs around today!.
If anything it was probably a metaphor for power (which may be more addictive than drugs); I think there's a phrase in the book (something like), "whoever controls the spice control the empire"!.
The books (at least the first one) are outstanding!.
