Who is excited to see Cloverfield and why?!

Question: I'm one of those who intends to give this film a chance because I trust J.J. Abrams' creative instincts~a whole lot more than M. Night Shyamalan! I wish I could be in a theater January 18 so that I could see this film as it likely should be. I'll have to wait for the pictures to show up on the Net or on television I suppose. *SIGH*

The only reason this is considered "hype" is because we have the Internet for everyone to search for clues about the movie instead of trying to simply enjoy the anticipation. Being excited about an upcoming movie isn't savored as much anymore because Hollywood is releasing a huge quantity of films throughout the year, far more than as recently as the Seventies and Eighties.

In the past, filmmakers have done this a lot~remaining hush-hush about their projects. Studios often have helped shield against leaks. Some that notably withheld images and information include "Dragonslayer", "Alien", "Close Encounters of the Third Kind", the "Star Wars" saga, and many others. Their ads and trailers offered very little or even no information or images. I clearly recall when "Starlog" magazine began publication, showing some of the preliminary sketches for "Star Wars" (the original release); thus, we had very little notion of what it was going to look like. In the Fifties, George Pal and Ray Harryhausen generally tried to protect projects. The public knew very little about special effects, so that really added to the mystery of it all.

So, practically everyone got worked up about "Cloverfield" and hunted throughout the Net for hints, something that we couldn't do previously. People should quit slamming J.J. Abrams over this since he's only doing what was done before! People certainly savored all of that nonsense over "The Blair Witch Project" and "Snakes on a Plane".

Remember: Anticipation is good! People used to love that countdown till they were sitting in the theater, waiting for the lights to dim. Get back in touch with that feeling.

I'm so happy to see that the people who are looking forward to it outnumber the "naysayers"!

i dont know. if i here whos the monster in cloverfield one more time i might go on a shooting rampage

I am. I want to see what all the buzz is about.

I want to see it cos I'm a Lost nut and JJ Abrams has managed to pull off one of the biggest hype jobs in movie history....if it lives up to the hype then I'm hoping Lost will head into a great ending. If it sucks, then I'm going to expect Lost to end badly

i saw the trailer it looks good .. i don't go to the movies much so
