In the Sweeney Todd movie, how did you feel about toby being played by a kid.?!
Question: I know that in the play he was supposed to be mentally ill and symbolize a completley different thing, but I really liked toby being the symbol of innocense in the show. what are your thoughts?

i know what you mean i was thinking the same thing. But the boy in the movie just did a great job with balancing the creepyness with that simple innonce of a kid. The boy did a great job also since he has no previous acting gigs or anything. he also has some great pipes on him. I love the fact Toby was played by a young boy.
I had never seen the play performed, only heard the soundtrack, and I always thought of Toby being a boy. The lyrics certainly seem to suggest that. I imagine it's more a side effect of child labor laws than story choices that leads simple 20-somethings to be cast in the role, but hey, I could be wrong.
i really liked toby being played by a kid Ed Sanders was great!
i loved the little boy! he was so awesome! =]
