I always look at cabling first. Is your guitar cord a good one, no kinks or cuts on the cord? What is the condition of the cable ends? Any frayed wires hanging out?
Sometimes, even the natural oils on your fingers can accumulate when you plug in the cord to the amp. Clean both ends with isopropal alcohol and a cotton ball or tissue. If this does not fix the problem, start to look at the volume knob and on/off switch. Many times, after much use, dragging an amp around and across carpeted floors, static can build up. Also, if you are like me, the amp is usually used at '11', meaning you turn it on...and only turn it up. This can also result in the volume pot having issues. To combat this, with the amp 'OFF', I liberally turn the knob from 0 to full and back and forth. Then, with the power 'ON, I repeat this same action. This will help to clean the pot (potentiometer). Try these, hopefully this will give you some direction and a possible solution. These are just a few 'tricks', there are many more. Get it serviced if you cannot get it to cooperate. But, by all means, check everything associated with getting into the amp (cords, devices, etc.) and the amp itself. GL

umm i would think that its your cord.. if its the amp i'm sure you can get it fixed with someone that knows that stuff but buy a new cord first
