Question: do you consider it to be Anime or Cartoon?
I'm NOT asking about TF ANIMATED (that series is crap), im asking about the ORIGINAL 1984 series!
I say it's anime cuz
Transformers is Japanese
The Japanese made a lot of the episodes
Anime mecha style was used on the robots
human characters were also designed with manga features
Japanese were involved with production and story
more than half the staff was Japanese
the original movie was made with Toei Animation
more anime elements than cartoon.

Cartoon hands down. Anime evolved from cartoons like Transformers and Speed Racer.
