Answers:
It has been long established in the Doctor Who canon that there are male Time Lords and female Time Lords (e!.g!. the Doctor's Grand Daughter Susan, Romana, The Rani, e!.t!.c) and they can't change sex by regeneration!. So if the Doctor wanted to change sex he would have to undergo a long drawn out and painful series of operations, just as a human would!.

The only way a female Doctor would be feasible is if it was in an alternate universe scenario where the Doctor had always been female!.

There has actually been an audio story in the Big Finish "Doctor Who Unbound" series, which was set in an alternate universe where the Doctor was female (see link)!. It was called "Exile" and the Doctor was played by Arabella Weir!.

So for the Doctor of our universe, regenerating into a female Time Lord is simply not possible!. A change of sex by some other means is possible, but is unlikely to be featured on a family TV show!.

As for the idea of a transvestite/transsexual/cross dresser, e!.t!.c, as I said above it's a family show!. So no, that will certainly not happen!. I think there's enough in your face gayness to be going on with in Torchwood!.

I think the next Doctor will be David Morrissey, who will be introduced as the 11th Doctor in this years Christmas special "The Next Doctor", then we will get the story leading up to the 10th Doctor's regeneration in the 2009 specials!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I doubt it!. In the Doctor Who Confidential episode corresponding to "The Doctor's Daughter" (Sins of the Fathers), they said something about Jenny's revival at the end serving as kind of an outlet for fan speculation about having a female Doctor, so I don't think they'll change the doctor's sex!.

Most people think David Morrissey will be the 11th doctor!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I don't think they should change the sex of Dr!. Who!. I mean he can regenerate, but surely not into a woman! He should definitely stay mysterious and ambiguous (asexual even!?)
There are quite a few people I would like to see in the role, but whoever it is should be British (just my opinion), my top 3 in that case would be:
Alan Davies
Stuart Davids
Robert Carlyle
It will be exciting to see who it is!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

hi !.!. I also asked this question !.!. one person suggested James Nesbitt!.!.!.

I love Nesbitt's work !.!. but whether the (much) younger female fans will accept him!.!.!. I have no Idea !.!.

Nesbitt COULD easily pull the role off!.!.!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Who knows!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
