Well I'm certainly sad about that, not to mention very surprised!. It was quite a shock when i saw it announced on BBC Breakfast this morning!. I was certain that Tennant would do one more series, and everything seemed to be pointing to that!. He obviously has decided to move on though, and good luck to him!. he's one of this countries finest actors, if not the finest, and has given some of the best performances as the Doctor in the history of the series!. I'm sure his career will go from success to success!.

The last of the 2009 specials will now be the end of an era in more ways than one, with both Tennant and Russel!. T Davies leaving at the same time!. As I've said many times before though, Doctor Who has always thrived on change!. Actors come and go, and the Doctor's appearance and surface personality changes from time to time, but his character and core values endure, as does the series itself!. The phenomenon that is Doctor Who is bigger than any single actor!.

So although I'm sad that Tennant has decided not to continue, I'm also excited to find out what comes next!.

It certainly seems that the title of the upcoming Christmas special makes more sense now, and this announcement makes the rumours about David Morrissey's character in that being someone other than the 11th Doctor, seem pretty unlikely!.

It certainly seems like a great opportunity to introduce the 11th Doctor before Tennant leaves the role, and Steven Moffat will certainly be glad of a familiar face to smooth the transition into his series in 2010!. So I think David Morrissey will be the 11th Doctor!.

I read a rumour some time ago (can't remember where now) that the 10th Doctor will be quite a bit older in the 2009 specials, and many years will have passed since he left Donna!. That could be true now!.

Another consequence is that River Song is very unlikely to be the Doctor's companion in series 5, since she recognised the 10th Doctor in "Silence in the Library" as being her Doctor!. It seems much more likely now that Rosita (played by Velile Tshabalala), the "Other Doctor's" companion in "The Next Doctor" will also be his companion in series 5, if I'm right in thinking that he is in fact the 11th Doctor!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I know, I asked this a few minutes ago; Cubalishus suggested that Paul O'Grady take up the Doctor's role and I thought that was actually plausible!. He's definitely achieved the eccentricity!. I mean, we wouldn't want a boring tw@t to play the part of the Doctor!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Truly very sad news in deed!. Tennant was my first Doctor!.

"You never forget your first Doctor!."
(I have that on a T-shirt)

I will miss him!. Most of the fans will miss him!. But he wasn’t going to be The Doctor forever!. I just hope that whoever they get to play the 11th incarnation is good!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm pretty damn upset!. It's so disappointing when the Doctors don't stay on long enough!. I mean, first with Eccleston and his ONE paltry series, and now Tennant is skipping off after only THREE!.

And what a BULLSH*T excuse he gave, too! "I love the show too much, therefore I have to leave it"!.

LAAAAAAAAAME!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

NO WAY!!! What!!!

But I only just read on the weekend that he was still undecided!!

That totally sucks!! But you have to remember it is the tradition of Dr Who to always change the actor as he regenerates every season!.

It is a sad loss but it's the way the show rolls, lol!.

I more upset over the fact that its not coming back on until 2010!! Www@Enter-QA@Com
