Did you watch Big Love? Do the mormons really still live like that?!

I watched about 2 episodes of the show- and No it is not Mormon, they don't even call themselves that!. I really did not like the show!.

I don't think they are even FLDS- after seeing them on the news, the people on the show are way too mainstream for that!.

Mormon/LDS DONOT practice polygamy!. The show protrays a group of fundamentalists that may be an offshoot of the mainstream LDS/Mormon church!.

I am not sure whether it is an accurate portrayal of any group!. Www@Enter-QA@Com

Depends on what you mean by "Mormons"!. Typically that means members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS for short)!. No, members of the LDS church do not practice polygamy!. There are other splinter groups, such as the "Fundamentalist" LDS church (or FLDS for short) that have been in the news recently!. They're the folks down in Texas who had all their children taken away because they were practicing polygamy, well more importantly, they were doing things with minors that they shouldn't have been!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

The show gives an unreal characterization of decrepit old stereotypes!. I am offended by the smear tactics that lame Hollywood types like to put on groups of people!. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is nothing like the characterization!. We are normal people living and working around you in relative anonymity!. We are clean cut, polite, law abiding and generally productive people!. We believe that one man and one woman should be married in a permanent familial relationship!.

I enjoyed the show!. However, I can confirm that it reflects neither LDS nor FLDS reality!. I have belonged to both and now am mainstream LDS!. LDS are not polygamous and at least my reality in Bountiful, BC was not at all like that(FLDS) Perhaps its representative of a hollywood version of both but neither!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I got the second season on DVD for my birthday!. Its a really good show, i reccommend you keep watching it (im not religious at all)

Have you been to Utah lately!? I've never seen the show, but lived in Utah for a couple of months (this is all I could take), but I wouldn't be surprised!. People can really live in isolation there, tons of open space!. Www@Enter-QA@Com
