Sky+... insurance scam?!


Question: Sky+!.!.!. insurance scam!?
I've had my sky+ box for just under a year now!.!.!. and when asked to renew the insurance i haven't!. I have heard in the past of the boxes being programmed to go wrong when the insurance runs out!.!.!. is this the problem!?

My Sky+ had been working fine and then it started about a month ago to occasionally not work and the channel (ext2) would say no signal!.!.!. then some days it would go for the whole day, and it hasn't worked at all for the past 2 weeks!.

What could be the problem, and can we fix it ourselves without paying out all that insurance!?

Read this link it may help if it goes wrong without being insured, I havn't had insurance on my sky for years and if they won't fix it i will just switch to virgin or vice versa!. (Read the link it explains more than me)

Hi I agree with DIXIE unplug it, pull the card, leave it for 15 mins!. Now plug it back in without the card!. Switch it on and then put the card in!. There is also an installer setup menu (disconnect the phone line first)
1!. Press Services
2!. Press 4
3!. Press 0 1 Select (this will take you to an installer menu)
4!. Press New Installation!. Let the system go through its set up then when it says there is no phone line just press to report manually!.(Re-connect your phone line, Although it will work fine without it -7 years for me)
I don't know how much the insurance is but I've had Sky for nearly 8 years and in all that time I've had one problem, rang them up, they came fitted a new dish and a new box -£65 total!. Forget the insurance!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

It's funny you should say that as I am convinced that's what Sky do!. Every time the insurance came up for renewal the box would go wrong for a couple of weeks!. But yeah, since you get that also I would believe that it is the source of the problem!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Solution is often to simply unplug the box from the mains leave it for 15 mins to forget everything and then reconnect it!.

I don't have plus but it works with my sky box the insurance is a scamWww@Enter-QA@Com

Contact Sky directly about this!. There are a number of scams/shady deals going about with regards to insurance!. Sky themselves are usually pretty ok about advice on this!.

Tell them your paying for a service your not receiving and if they dont coom and fix the promblem ASAP that you will cancel your subscription, they'll come then and fix it for free ;)Www@Enter-QA@Com

when we were with Sky they rang us to TELL us we had to insure our box, when we told them no they got quite annoyed!. soon after we changed to another supplier!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
