The emotionally unstable tycoon has been incommunicado since skipping the country, and he just burned down the chateau in France that he purchased for Sabrina!.
Is the great and powerful Newman going bonkers!? His portrayer, Eric Braeden, doesn't think so!. "There's a valid reason why he destroyed that chateau," Braeden points out!. "What Victor is trying to do is end that dream he had with Sabrina!. She was a wonderful life force who came into his experience and after she died, he longed to recapture that!. Now, he's fighting to get back to what is real!."
A dogged Heather heads out to the ranch to confront Nikki, who, in an effort to help Victor, led the authorities on a wild-goose chase!. "Heather is getting really fed up with Nikki's stonewalling," says Vail Blom (Heather)!. "It's too bad because Heather really likes Nikki!. She hired Heather at Jabot and they got along really well!. But Heather has a job to do!. This is about Victor now!."
Michael arrives and informs Heather that Nikki won't be answering any questions!. Then, "Michael gets a call, so Heather goes back to talking to Nikki," says Bloom!.
To Michael's surprise, it's Victor calling, and he wants to speak to Nikki!. She's caught off-guard upon hearing his voice, but covers!. "Nikki pretends she's talking to Nick," chuckles Bloom!. "Heather has no idea that it's Victor on the other end!."
Victor orders Nikki to stop searching for him and to stay out of the investigation!. "Not only does he not need her help, he doesn't want it," affirms Braeden!. "He still blames her for Sabrina's death!. Essentially, Nikki caused all of this when she married David Chow and she knows that!."
A stung Nikki hands the phone back to Michael!. Victor informs his attorney that his services are no longer required and that Newman is cutting off all communication--with everyone! "He just wants to be left alone," growls Braeden!. "Victor doesn't want his family getting caught up in this investigation!."
Isn't he overreacting a bit!? "He has idealized the relationship he had with Sabrina because she was totally innocent in all of this, so he's a broken man right now," Braeden explains!. "It's too much for him to deal with!. You must remember that he comes from an orphanage, so he always has a difficult time with feeling that he is loved and accepted!. When things turn against him, he has a tendency to say, 'Okay, up yours, good-bye!. I'm gone!.' "
An impatient Heather realizes that Michael is talking to Victor, not Nick, and demands to speak with him!. Surprisingly, Victor instructs Michael to put her on the phone just as Nick and Victoria arrive!. "Victor tells Heather that he is innocent and to leave his family the he** alone," says Bloom!. "Heather doesn't get to say much because he hangs up!."
In an effort to track down Victor, Heather tries to remove the memory chip from Michael's phone!. "But Nikki grabs it from her," says Bloom!. "Heather demands that Nikki give it back, but she deliberately drops the SIM card on the floor and destroys it by grinding it under her heel!."
After assuring the Newmans and Michael that she will find Victor and prosecute him for murder, Heather leaves!. Nick and Victoria then share the news that the chateau was torched!. A concerned Nikki pushes Michael to finally divulge everything he knows about Victor's whereabouts!. Michael says he's convinced of his former client's innocence, but Nikki is equally certain Victor is guilty!. Winks Braeden, "Everybody wants to find Victor, but the question is: Will he ever turn up again!?"

For decades, Michael's father, River, has been running from the law after being accused of bombing a bank that killed a man!. This week, Michael gets ahold of an old photograph proving that Gloria was at the site of the bombing, as well!.
"Gloria was around the bombing," her portrayer, Judith Chapman, clarifies!. "She was there at this big meeting!. Michael shows River this photograph and asks his father to identify this woman who's there looking off!. River won't identify her, but it's very sweet because it turns out Gloria was looking off at her son!. So what's startling to Michael is that he was there as a toddler!."
At first, Michael's parents don't want to offer any details of that fateful day!. However, they finally share their past, which viewers will see through newly created flashbacks!. "Gloria was horrified about the bombing," explains Chapman!. "She was holding this toddler and River was saying, 'No, this is not the way of Gandhi and Martin Luther King!.
