SciFi channel insulting to our intelligence?!
Question: SciFi channel insulting to our intelligence!?
In the past, the SciFi channel has had such shows as the "Twilight Zone" and "Farscape"!. Only, now they are constantly coming out with movies filled with new actors and familiar older actors at the end of their rope in such flicks that depict horribly made "monsters"!.
I'm talking about dinosaurs, dragons, gargoyles, and just now: some giant spider mixed with lizards!?
Someone should start a petition or something about all this crap they keep showing!. Is it because of ratings!? Are common viewers actually THAT stupid!? Lets just watch a monster flick every day for the rest of our lives, while they slowly kill off the cast in EVERY movie!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

I'm afraid that the most likely reason for the Sci Fi Channel making and showing so many of their own movies is that it is either cheaper to do so than to pay the fees for broadcasting theatrically released movies and/or because their own fare gets higher ratings than theatrically released movies!. If they weren't somehow making a profit by grinding out their own movies, they wouldn't be making them!. I seriously doubt that anyone involved in scheduling the movies and/or producing them seriously gives a rat's *** if you or I think the "Original Movies" insult anyone's intelligence or not, as long as enough viewers keep watching to keep their baseline audience!.
I haven't been able to avoid noticing that many (but not all) of the Sci Fi Channel Original Movies feature gratuitous gore, which may make them appealing to the same group of people who love the "Saw" movies and other neo-splatter movies!. I can't see where that tactic would have much long term appeal, but I could be making the the classical mistake of underestimating how low the tastes of the general public can be!.
The one good thing I can see coming out of the Sci Fi Original Movies is that they provide a training ground for future actors, directors, and special effects people; it has often been said that an artist cannot fully mature unless they have the luxury of having a venue in which they can discover how very bad they can be, and Sci Fi channel is certainly providing that!. Sci Fi Channel also had a hand in the three part mini-series "Tin Man" which was a superior television project, so not everything they are connected with is garbage!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
