The original Power Rangers never had the medallions on their chests except in the (non-canonical) movie, because the Japanese footage that Saban used for the fight scenes had costumes without emblems!. And to make it appear seamless, they had to duplicate the Japanese costumes exactly for the television show!.
The only other place besides the movie that they had the medallions was for the merchandising, since that wasn't directly drawn from the Japanese footage!.Www@Enter-QA@Com

Those emblems on the chest for the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were for the movie only, they were never used during the regular series!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
