It's purposely crappy lol!.!. the original cartoon was made entirely out of construction paper so they wanted to keep it looking like that!.!.!. however, if you look at a season 1 episode which has super crappy animation and the acting isn't the awesomest lol they've come soooooooo far, take a look at a season 11 or 12 episode, the progress is insane!! :DWww@Enter-QA@Com

First if you watch the first few seasons it was way more crude than now!. There is a very noticeable difference between the early years and now!.
History of south park comes from motion stop anamation with paper cut outs, so they reproduce that affect with computers!. It use to take weeks to do a few minutes!. The first south park was a Christmas Card they sent out to friends!. It was so popular they got the offer to make a show!.
It may not appear to be sophisticated, high definition, but the computers they use are very powerful!. The look is intentional!.
If you watch for awhile you will appreciate the style, its more abstract, ITS SOUTH PARK FOR GOSH SAKES!.

The crudeness of anamation matches the crudeness of the humor!. A lot of the stuff they do is so outrageous they could not do it with crisp anamation!.

Its the style they decided to go with, keep in mind it started out with basically construction paper cutouts!. Nowadays though, south park has the best computers for animation, on par with those used for jurassic park, they can make in episode from scratch in a couple daysWww@Enter-QA@Com
South Park was meant to be like that, it's there own sort of trade mark style, they aren't going for amazing animation, as for stuff like the Simpsons, it's really old (1989) animation wasn't that good then and if they try to change it now the show looses it's touch!.Www@Enter-QA@Com
