Answers:
the \8/ has been established as meaning Father, or Jor-El, I think it was during season 2 or 3, in which Clark was assigned to do a family tree for school, and was given a blank 'tree' to fill out, which had spaces, and then the person who was supposed to be written in, i!.e!. Mother, father, maternal Grandmother, etc!.

and either next to each word or space, CK wrote in Kryptonian, and the \8/ was by Father!.

at the end of season 2, when he put on the Red K ring and ran off to Metropolis the symbol was also burned onto his chest by Jor-ElWww@Enter-QA@Com

The Kryptonian symbol 8 incased within a diamond shape is the English letter S!.
