What should I expect at the Miss Teen Vermont Interview?!

Question: What should I expect at the Miss Teen Vermont Interview!?
Hi everyone! I've never done anything like this before and thought I'd sort of try this on a whim!. My question is, what should I be expecting at the interview for Miss Teen Vermont!? I sent in my application and they called me back after only 3 days! Which I think is a pretty good sign!. I don't want to sound cocky at all, but I'm pretty good on my feet when it comes to answering questions, and I'm a very good people person!. My only worry is that my friend had called the organization (to make sure they were the real deal) and found out that there are thousands of other girls all over Vermont competing!. I've known past contestants who have made it to the National Miss Teen pageant, but does anyone have any tips and suggestions for what I should do/wear/say that would be best!? I know I should always be myself, but any outside help is very appreciated! Thank you very much!Www@Enter-QA@Com

Congratulations on deciding to start in pageants!! I started when I was 13 and it's been the best decision of my life!. Getting called back is always a very good sign!. =) Don't worry about all of the other contestants-- just stay focused on you! Pageants are really all about you, not about the other girls-- of course you'll want to make friends with them, but you also want to show the judges that you are the best! Here are my suggestions!.!.!.

1) Try to get in touch with the past contestants you know and ask them what their interview was like!.
2) Were you given any information about what to wear!? Since I don't know what system this is, I'm not sure exactly what they want you to wear, but you can't go wrong with a cute interview suit!.!.!. it's always better to be more dressed up than not dressy enough! Look for one with a skirt, rather than pants, but make sure the skirt is not too short!. Make sure to pick a color that really works with your skin tone! Here are some examples:

If you're short on time, you definitely don't need to buy yours online!.!.!. you can always pick one up at a department store! I suggest wearing taupe heels with suits, as it gives a very classy look!.
3) You will almost definitely be asked questions about the things you put on your application!. Hobbies, education, your job!.!.!. anything is fair game! A good way to practice for that is to have a friend or family member pretend to be your judge and ask you questions based on your application information!.
4) Practice answering these questions:

5) Practice speaking clearly, and make sure to enunciate when answering your questions!.!.!. no mumbling! Don't use "like," "um" or anything similar!.!.!. it makes you sound unsure!
6) Read cnn!.com to make sure you're up on current events!. also make sure you know about anything major that's going on in Vermont!
7) When you are being interviewed, make eye contact with the judges, keep your hands folded in your lap, and make sure your ankles are crossed and your knees are together!.

And of course, you have the right idea-- be yourself! Good luck!!!!Www@Enter-QA@Com

For the interview expect to answer questions about current events, questions about your background (such as things you've learned growing up) and school, questions about your platform (if you are required to have one) and some questions that will cause you to think on your feet (like describing yourself in three words)!.

For what to wear, go with something nice!. Usually a suit type thing with a little blazer and a skirt!. Cross your legs at the ankles (ladylike) and keep your makeup natural!. Some jewelry is fine, but make it tasteful (a simple string of pearls is incredible) Wear your hair professionally, either in a low ponytail or down!. This is the judging panel's opportunity to get to know you on a personal level, so pay attention to the details!.

For what to say - just be yourself!. Stand by your convictions - if you think communism is a great idea, tell them!. But be ready to back it up!. Brush up on current events, know what your opinions are, and be able to formulate your answers concisely and quickly!. Remember that less is more when you are talking, so make your points, but don't start back peddling on your ideals!.

Relax, smile and have fun with it!. :-DWww@Enter-QA@Com
